Why choose Central Performance

What happens at your first appointment

Your initial consultation starts with a thorough conversation about your injury, your history and — importantly — what you want to get back to. Your physio then completes a detailed physical assessment to reach an accurate diagnosis, explains exactly what's going on in plain English, and begins hands-on treatment in the same session.

Before you leave, you'll have three things: a clear diagnosis, a personalised treatment plan with realistic timeframes, and the first exercises of your rehab program. If a scan or X-ray is needed, we can usually refer you directly — no GP visit required.

Conditions we treat

Our physiotherapists treat the full range of musculoskeletal problems, with particular expertise in:

  • Neck pain and headache
cervicogenic headaches, joint & disc pain, pinched nerve, postural and desk-related pain
  • Knee and hip pain
    meniscus injuries, osteoarthritis and tendinopathy
  • Shoulder pain and injury
rotator cuff, instability, bursitis, post-op rehab, overhead athletes & swimmers
  • Post-op rehab
ACL/knee & shoulder reconstruction, hip & knee replacement, spinal surgery, arthroscopy & meniscus tears

Headaches, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and postural problems

How we treat — hands-on care plus a real plan

These days we know that effective physiotherapy is not about massage and machines. All of our physio sessions are 100% one-on-one and we combine hands-on techniques — joint mobilisation, manipulation and soft-tissue release — with the thing that actually produces lasting results: a structured, progressive exercise program built around your body and your goals. We are always on top of the latest research-based guidelines on injury diagnosis, pain relief, the most effective treatments, and the best ways to minimise any risk of future problems.

Because our clinic includes a full rehab gym, clinical Pilates studio and running centre, your rehab doesn't stop at the treatment table. Your physio can take you from the first painful week through to strength testing, running assessment and a confident return to sport — all in one place, with one team.

Meet your Physiotherapists

Every physio at Central Performance is APA-registered, and most hold dual qualifications in strength & conditioning or running coaching — so your rehab is guided by clinicians who understand both injury and performance.

FAQs

No. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners, so you can book directly with us — no GP referral needed for private appointments. Referrals are only required for Workers Compensation, DVA, CTP and Medicare (EPC) appointments.

All major health funds are accepted and you can claim on the spot with HICAPS — you only pay the gap.

In most cases, yes. We keep appointments available for new injuries and offer early-morning, lunchtime and evening times. Book online 24/7 or call (02) 9280 2322.

It depends on your injury, how long you've had it and your goals. At your first appointment your physio will give you a clear diagnosis and an honest estimate of how many sessions your recovery plan involves — most injuries need a structured course of care rather than a single visit, and we'll map that out with you from day one.

Comfortable clothing that lets us see and move the injured area — shorts for lower-limb injuries, a singlet for shoulders. Bring any scans, reports or referral letters you have, plus your health fund card.

Physiotherapists assess, diagnose and treat injuries — including hands-on treatment — and prescribe exercise rehab. Exercise physiologists prescribe exercise but don't diagnose or provide hands-on treatment. At Central Performance, our physios also hold strength & conditioning qualifications, so you get diagnosis, treatment and expert exercise programming from one clinician.

Running injuries are our specialty. Central Performance is home to the Sydney Running Centre, combining experienced running physios, World Athletics and Athletics Australia accredited coaches, treadmill running gait analysis and correction, and strength training for runners - all under one roof. The Centre is headed up by Ben Liddy, our Head of Running Performance, and we work with athletes from Olypmic and Commonwealth Games level through to recreational and beginner runners.

Ready to get moving again? Book online 24/7, or call (02) 9280 2322 and our team will find a time that suits you — often within 24–48 hours.
