MIKAYLA’S BIO:

Mikayla is a physiotherapist with a Doctor of Physiotherapy from Macquarie University, bringing extensive expertise in running-related performance and injury management. With over 20 years of personal running experience and more than a decade as a sprints and jumps coach, she offers a well-rounded, practical understanding of athlete development across all levels.

She takes a strongly evidence-based approach, combining hands-on manual therapy with targeted exercise prescription to optimise outcomes. Her treatment integrates rehabilitation, strength and conditioning principles, and clinical Pilates where appropriate, to improve strength, control, and movement quality while addressing the underlying causes of injury.

Mikayla works with a wide range of patients – from recreational to elite athletes, as well as those simply looking to move without pain. She is passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals and perform at their highest functional potential.

SPECIAL INTERESTS:

• Runners, from sprinters through to marathoners
• Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) in athletes
• Bone stress injuries and stress fracture management in runners
• Strength based rehabilitation for injury prevention and return to sport
• Clinical pilates (general and athlete-specific rehabilitation)

WHY I DO THIS:

Mikayla’s passion for physiotherapy is strongly influenced by her background as a competitive athlete, having previously competed as a national-level sprinter. This experience gives her a unique understanding of the physical and mental demands of sport, as well as the challenges that come with injury.

She enjoys the problem-solving aspect of physiotherapy, working closely with patients to identify the root cause of their symptoms and develop individualised treatment plans. She also values building strong relationships, supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation and celebrating their progress along the way.

Mikayla takes pride in creating a positive and engaging clinic environment, helping patients regain confidence in their bodies and return to doing what they love.

SOMETHING FUN:

Outside of the clinic, you’ll usually find Mikayla out on a long run training for the Sydney Marathon this year, tackling a new escape room, or planning her next Formula 1 adventure.
